A
bird watching camp was organised by WWF and Van Vihar National
Park along with BhopalBirds. Participated
by about 60 students of Vikram Higher Secondary School, Bhopal,
program started with a introduction of what bird watching is all
about. Students were oriented towards different aspects of nature
and its different components and were explained about the importance
of birding as a tool for conservation.
After
the initial instructions and informing about do's and dont's of
Van Vihar, students were divided into three groups of about twenty
each and the groups than proceeded from veethika towards the aviory
in turn.
Students
were provided with a list of common and migratory birds of Van
vihar and asked to create a list of birds they have seen. Students
participated with full enthusiam and were delighted to know about
birds, their habits, colors etc and jotted down the details.
About
28 species were recorded by the students that included most of
the commonly seen and migratory birds of Van Vihar. Session was
concluded by Mr Ajay Mishra, WWF. Mr Mishra interacted with the
students and addressed before them several issues pertaining to
wildlife and environmental conservation as a whole.
