Kite
string injures a Vulture
A rare specie
of long billed Vulture (Scientific Nomenclature: Gyps indicus
) was hurt due to kite string and fail down in Tarwalanagar, Nashik
on Sankrant day (14 January 2007). The wounded bird is unable
to fly. Its feathers had a sharp cut because of the string. It
was rescued by the bird lovers Shriram Vaijapurkar, Pranav Kavi
and Yogesh Pathak from the thorny bushes.

The bird
is kept and looked after by Mrs. Medha and Vaijapurkar family.
Senior bird-friend Shri. Digambar Gadgil and others are informed
and they are guiding. The bird will be handed over to Forest Department.
The vulture is not the common vulture. It is about 8 to 10 kg
weight young vulture, one and half feat high and two feat length.
Children call it Titu-Jatau with love.
